Riad Oriental Glory and Spa, which opened in late 2018, offers traditional Moroccan-style accommodation within the winding alleyways of Marrakesh’s historic medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Many of the city’s major attractions are nearby, including the landmark Ben Youssef Mosque, Almoravid Koubba, an architecturally significant 12th-century monument, and Marrakesh Museum, all about a 15-minute walk away. Djemaa el Fna square, “the city’s magical centrepiece” (Lonely Planet) and the 19th-century Bahia Palace, a former harem known for its ceramics and symmetrical gardens, are around 30 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

The carved wooden door of the riad opens to a grand Moorish courtyard, which is lined with plants in terracotta pots and features a tiled pool. There’s a spa offering a hammam and a range of beauty treatments, as well as a restaurant serving classic Moroccan dishes. Guests can relax with a drink on the rooftop terrace, which is decorated with colourful murals.

The riad’s guestrooms carry through the Moorish décor, with colourful fabrics and ornate furnishings, and include free Wi-Fi and mini bars. Standard Double rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast is continental style and served as a buffet.

A mandatory city tax of MAD28-30 (approximately £2.50) per person, per night, is payable at the hotel.
